Ten Reasons Chip Kelly is a Happy Fun Time Hire for the Eagles

10. He’s not Andy Reid. I was a big fan of Big Red even long past his expiration date, but I can’t stress enough how important it was to hire a coach who wasn’t Andy Reid. Mission accomplished.

9. He’s 49. I don’t want some old sack of hot air who needs a walker getting up and down the sidelines. If all goes as planned and the Eagles win the Super Bowl every year, we’ll want this guy around for a while, not having a coronary on every third and long.

8. 685 carries, 4098 yards, 48 Tds, 6.0 yards per carry. Oregon’s team rushing stats from the 2012 college season. The Eagles have Shady McCoy and Bryce Brown to run the ball in Chip’s offense next year

7. Even if he fails, it’s going to be spectacular and entertaining.

6. From 2010-2012, Chip Kelly went for it on fourth down eighty times, and was successful on fifty four of them. That’s sixty percent. Who says you can’t turn real football into Madden?

5. He’s not Bruce Arians, Gus Bradley, Lovie Smith, Ken Wisenhunt, or, most importantly, any of the fucking Grudens. The only benefit to hiring Jon Gruden would have been no longer having to listen to him on MNF.

4. He’s unmarried and has no kids. I don’t mean to pick on Andy Reid at all because I honestly believe he is a good man, but it’ll be nice not having to worry about family problems distracting the coach from his job.

3. Shady McCoy and Chip can have a fun, awkward conversation about this tweet:

2. The Dallas Cowboys recently hired Monte Kiffin away from USC, the same Monte Kiffin that Chip’s teams hung 62 points on this past season. Chip now gets to do that to the Cowboys twice a year.

1. 2012 – Oregon 49.6 PPG, Oregon’s opponents 21.6 PPG. That’s a 28 point average margin of victory for the mathematically challenged.
